As North American jurisdictions adopt Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) that go beyond ASHRAE requirements, a new approach to exterior wall assemblies is needed. This educational event will explore how thermal bridging affects compliance with BEPS and ASHRAE, emphasizing the importance of considering component performance across multiple facets.
Attendees will learn about common insulation methods—interior, split, and exterior—and strategies to limit thermal bridging through effective cladding attachments. The session will highlight the role of thermally broken connections, which use low thermal conductivity materials to minimize heat transfer and enhance energy efficiency. Real-world case studies will be reviewed to illustrate how these strategies lead to significant energy savings and improved compliance with BEPS.
