RAINA Member Hosted Webinar: Understanding the new IBC Rainscreen Requirements: Design, Integration & Practical Implementation
Wednesday, September 24, 2025 (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
The International Building Code (IBC) now mandates rainscreen assemblies for stucco, exterior panels, and other cladding systems. This change marks a significant step forward in moisture management and long-term building performance. However, the industry currently lacks comprehensive guidance for designing and constructing these assemblies, particularly when integrating products and components from different manufacturers. This course will review the new IBC requirements, examine gaps in current industry resources, and explore practical strategies for creating cohesive, code-compliant rainscreen systems. Through case-based discussions and contractor feedback, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of both the technical requirements and the field challenges of implementation,
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Identify the new IBC rainscreen requirements and explain their implications for contractors, designers, and building owners.
- Evaluate current gaps in industry guidance and assess the risks these gaps present for moisture management and long-term performance.
- Develop strategies for integrating different cladding systems, components, and accessories into a cohesive, code-compliant rainscreen assembly.
- Analyze real-world contractor feedback to formulate practical solutions that address common field challenges under the new requirements.
