Rainscreen Installer Training

9/23/2025 - 9/24/2025

Description

2-Day Introductory Hands-On Training Course
Learn. Practice. Apply. Build Your Foundation.

Looking to break into rainscreen installations or better understand how these systems work? The RAiNA Rainscreen Installation Training is a 2-day, hands-on course designed specifically for building professionals who are new to rainscreen assemblies or seeking a solid introduction to this growing area of construction.

Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical application on mock-up walls, participants will gain a clear understanding of the fundamentals of rainscreen systems—including typical components, installation sequencing, and integration with the rest of the building enclosure.

This course is an ideal starting point for contractors, installers, and construction teams looking to:

  • Learn the basics of rainscreen design and installation
  • Build confidence working with key materials and assemblies
  • Gain practical, hands-on experience in a low-pressure environment
  • Expand service offerings in response to growing market demand and updated energy codes

By the end of the course, attendees will walk away with a strong foundation they can build on—whether they’re preparing to bid on rainscreen jobs for the first time, supporting project teams, or simply wanting to stay ahead of industry trends.

No previous rainscreen experience required—just a willingness to learn and get hands-on.

What to Expect

Participants will rotate between four short, focused classroom sessions (approximately 20 minutes each) followed by hands-on installation practice at the mock-up wall. Each module builds on the last to provide a full understanding of rainscreen system components and integration.

Training Modules

1. Air and Weather Barrier (AVB) Application

This module explores the purpose and performance expectations of AVB systems in rainscreen assemblies. Attendees will review:

  • Surface preparation and priming
  • Proper sequencing and integration with other systems
  • Common installation errors and how to avoid them

Then, you'll head to the wall to apply the AVB using actual tools and materials.

2. Cladding Attachment System Installation

Get to know the "bones" of the system. In this module, we cover:

  • Types of attachment systems and when to use them
  • Alignment, spacing, and structural considerations
  • Compatibility with insulation and AVBs

Participants will then install cladding attachment components on the mock-up wall.

3. Insulation Installation

Thermal performance matters. This module dives into:

  • Choosing the right insulation for rainscreen assemblies
  • Installation techniques to ensure continuous insulation
  • How to handle mechanical fasteners and thermal bridging

You'll apply insulation to your section of the mock-up wall with guidance from experienced trainers.

4. Cladding Installation

The finishing touch. This final module focuses on:

  • Cladding types and their characteristics
  • Best practices for fastening, layout, and drainage
  • Considerations for thermal and moisture movement

Wrap up your training by installing cladding as the final layer on the mock-up wall.
