RDH & RAiNA Partner Series Deep Dive into Rainscreens Session 8: Pressure Equalization and Compartmentalization
Wednesday, May 22, 2024 (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
This event is pending continuing education credit approval.
Deep Dive into Rainscreens Session 8 delves into two intriguing but often misunderstood design considerations: pressure equalization and compartmentalization of the air cavity. RDH Principal and Senior Building Science Specialist, Dr. John Straube, will explain why pressure equalization is a complementary addition to drained rain control strategies. John will describe the components of a pressure-equalized rainscreen, summarize the factors that affect the degree of pressure equalization performance, and explain the role of compartmentalization in improving water penetration control. You will learn:
- Pressure moderation/equalization as an additive rain control strategy.
- Physical components of a pressure-equalized rainscreen.
- Design and exposure factors that affect pressure equalization performance.
- When and how compartmentalization may improve water control.
** This session is designed for architects, designers, contractors, and students. No pre-existing knowledge is required.
** 1-hour live webinar with the opportunity to ask questions during the event.
** Attendees who attend this event for at least 50 minutes will receive attendance credit and a certificate of completion via email. Attendees must submit their request for continuing education attendance reporting when they register for the event; no requests for continuing education reporting will be accepted outside of registration.
