Deep Dive into Rainscreens Session 6 explores the use of exterior insulation in a rainscreen wall assembly.  RDH Principal and Senior Building Science Engineer, Daniel Haaland, will explain how the addition of exterior insulation impacts design considerations regarding the controls (e.g., water, air, thermal, and water vapor) of a rainscreen wall assembly. He will also discuss different types of cladding attachment systems and methods for attaching cladding through exterior insulation.  You will learn: 

• Common exterior insulation types.
• Impact of exterior insulation on water, air, vapor, and thermal control. 
• Methods for attaching cladding through exterior insulation.
• Impact various cladding attachment methods have on assembly thermal performance.
